Fibromyalgia, are you suffering?
Fibromyalgia can be very debilitating for suffers, symptoms vary in each person but generally they are widespread pain in your muscles; tiredness (fatigue) and sleep disturbance. Other suffers may also experience tingling to the hands and feet, headaches; irritability or feeling miserable; feeling an urgent need to urinate, especially at night; irritable or uncomfortable bowels (diarrhoea or constipation and abdominal pain). “Brain fog” where you forget things or are unable to think clearly may also be experience.
Suffers sometimes seek alternative therapies for treatment for the pain to the muscles and joints. So what treatment is best?
Chiropractic has been used to correct any misalignments that can restrict range of motion and stiffness, massage to relieve pain from tense muscle fibres and assist with movement, trigger point therapy to remove tense taught bands of muscle that are painful and acupuncture. Not all treatments suit all, certainly many people have a negative reaction to strong treatments, setting them back rather than helping. It’s all about finding what suits one and working steadily and gently. The tissues are inflamed, the practitioner must avoid using heat which increases the inflammation and avoid too much pressure, the tissues are highly sensitive.
At Back2Back Complementary Healthcare, treatment is available for fibromyalgia suffers. Suzanne is a very experience practitioner and is fully aware of negative reactions to heavy treatments. Treatment will depend upon how much pain is present, any previous therapies tried, but even very sensitive tissues can be helped as Suzanne can use low level laser to release trigger points, slow deep tissue massage working within the patient’s tolerance levels and realign any misalignments of the joints. Acupuncture can be used, again within the client’s tolerance levels as some may have a strong reaction to this initially.
